Kathy and I worked together while she was Associate Vice Chancellor for University Development at UC San Diego. We were at the start of a capital campaign and the College of Engineering had a $225 million goal. Kathy was the one who helped build and coach our team, and helped us develop goals so we could get those first fundraising successes that led to subsequent, bigger successes. We ended up exceeding the campaign goal. … Kathy is a very energetic person who understands how to enter a room and quickly form strong relationships with people around her, and immediately gets to a place of open communication and trust. Kathy continues to be a thought leader and resource for my Executive Director of Development and his team of eight development officers. In fact, we’ve almost met our campaign goal for this fiscal year, despite COVID-19 and the difficult fundraising climate. With people like Kathy on your side, you can’t lose.
